Domtar to halt operations at Maniwaki sawmill
Domtar will temporarily suspend operations at its Maniwaki sawmill in Quebec beginning October 10, the company confirmed this week. The mill, acquired through Domtar’s 2023 purchase of Resolute Forest Products, cited challenging market conditions and rising U.S. softwood lumber tariffs—now exceeding 35 per cent—as the primary reasons for the closure.
