Sweden’s timber market may be entering a different phase in the relationship between forest owners and the processing industry. Sveaskog CEO Erik Brandsma (in the photo above) says the state-owned forest company is increasingly prepared to use its supply position to balance the market, rather than treating maximum timber deliveries to industry as an objective in itself. At the same time, he sees some overcapacity in Swedish sawmilling and expects consolidation.
