On April 2, 2025, U.S. President Donald Trump officially announced the "Liberation Day" tariffs, imposing new duties on a wide range of imports, with only a few exceptions. This decision follows a March 1, 2025, Executive Order initiating an investigation into whether imports of timber, lumber, and derivative products pose risks to national security and economic stability. The new tariffs apply broadly to numerous products, with significant increases on wood product and log exports from certain countries.
