Ukraine investigates senior forestry officials over large-scale illegal logging
Ukrainian prosecutors are investigating senior officials at the state-owned enterprise Ukrainian Forests and the Ukrainian Forestry Innovation and Analytical Center (LIAC) over an alleged large-scale illegal logging scheme that has caused millions in economic and environmental losses. The Specialized Environmental Prosecutor’s Office says the network involved systematic manipulation of the Ukrainian Timber Register between 2021 and 2024, falsifying data in more than 10,000 cases.
