U.S. sawmills produce more softwood lumber, while Canadian output drops

  U.S. sawmills in July produced 3.105 billion board ft. (bbf) of softwood lumber, up 2.1% from the 3.042 bbf produced in July 2021, but down 11.1% compared with June 2022’s 3.495 bbf.  Western U.S. sawmills in July contributed 1.101 bbf to the total, down 5.4% from the prior year’s 1.164 bbf, while output from Southern sawmills was up 7.1% year-over-year to 1.865 bbf from 1.741 bbf.
