Thousands of wood businesses in Poland risk closure over drastic supply cuts

Poland’s State Forests authority (Lasy Państwowe) has significantly reduced the supply of large-size timber—critical for sawmills and the broader wood-processing sector—sparking warnings from the industry that the entire market could be destabilized. “Thousands of businesses could go bankrupt,” said Piotr Poziomski, president of the Polish Chamber of the Wood Industry (PIGPD), in an interview with Puls Biznesu. The Chamber represents sawmills and producers of wooden garden structures, flooring, pallets, wooden houses, and wood traders.
