Sweden: Softwood lumber exports 10% lower in Jan.-May 2024

In the first five months of 2024, Sweden exported approximately 5.18 million cubic meters of sawn and planed softwood lumber. This represents a 10% decrease compared to the same period in 2023.  Exports to the European Union experienced a significant decline, dropping by 18% to 2.57 million cubic meters. Major EU destinations such as Germany and France saw substantial reductions of 27% and 35%, respectively. Similarly, shipments to the Netherlands and Denmark decreased by 18% and 24%, respectively.
