Sweden: Balungstrand sawmill announces new layoffs due to market uncertainty
At the end of last year, 13 employees at Balungstrand sawmill in Dalarna, previously owned by the bankrupt German company Ziegler Group, were laid off. Now, five more workers will be laid off because the market situation remains uncertain. With these new layoffs, about half of Balungstrand’s staff have received layoff notices. Earlier this year, Balungstrand and the nearby Bäckebron sawmills were bought by Profura AB after Ziegler Group went bankrupt.
