Sumitomo Forestry strengthens U.S. presence with Louisiana sawmill acquisition
Sumitomo Forestry Co., Ltd. has accelerated its North American expansion with the acquisition of the Teal Jones–Plain Dealing (TJPD) sawmill in Louisiana, a key move designed to strengthen its U.S. housing business and face ongoing tariff fluctuations. The acquisition was completed on July 1, 2025. The TJPD sawmill, located near the Texas border, supplies around 40% of house framing in the region.
