Stora Enso plans lay-offs in Finland, oversupply in the sawn timber market blamed

Stora Enso prepares for temporary lay-offs in its Wood Products division in Finland. The provisional lay-off plans concern Stora Enso's sawmills in Lappeenranta, Uimaharju, Kitee, and Varkaus.  In addition, Stora Enso is planning temporary lay-offs at its LVL mill in Varkaus. If implemented, the lay-offs of up to 90 days will be completed by the end of October 2019.  According to Stora Enso, the lay-off plans are due to market volatility that is expected to persist in 2019.
