Softwood log exports from Russia to China declined in 2017, while hardwood shipments were up 23%
In 2017, China reduced the Russian roundwood imports by 0.8% and increased the purchases of hardwood by 23%. Thus, the exports of softwood and hardwood logs from Russia to China reached 12.6 million m3, which represents a -0.8% year-on-year decrease, but the sales pattern changed significantly, WhatWood reports.
