Softwood felling to be reduced in Bavaria due to poor demand

The Bavarian State Forests (BaySF), based in Regensburg, are reducing their fresh softwood felling by 600,000 solid cubic meters in the current 2024 financial year. The 2024 financial year of BaySF covers the period from July 1, 2023 to June 30, 2024. This corresponds to a reduction of around 20 percent in the felling of fresh softwood previously planned for the current financial year. According to the company, the reasons for the reduction in felling of fresh wood are, on the one hand, the higher numbers of bark beetles occurring primarily in northern Bavaria and, on the ...
