Rise in pine and spruce log prices in Germany
Persistent rain made timber harvesting impossible in large parts of Germany, particularly in Lower Saxony, in the first weeks and months of 2024. At the same time, the rain at least slowed the development of the bark beetle. Both factors together kept the timber supply low and caused prices to rise. This price increase subsided in May and June, and roundwood prices remained essentially constant.
