Irish sawmills to raise capacity by 30%
Irish sawmills are set to increase capacity by 30% to manage the surge in timber supply following widespread forest damage caused by Storm Éowyn earlier this year, according to Forest Industries Ireland (FII), the timber and forestry group within business lobby Ibec. The association said it had assessed the national sawmilling capacity and determined that timber processing levels could be scaled up significantly to accommodate the needs of forest owners seeking to bring storm-damaged logs to market.
