IKEA shuts down its last plant in US

IKEA Industry will close its plant in Danville, Virginia, at the end of the year. As evidenced by several identical US media reports, the production of bookshelves and living room cabinets, which had previously been based there, is to be relocated to locations in Europe.  IKEA Industry justifies the decision with the more favorable cost structure, especially with regard to raw materials at the European locations. The cessation of employment affects 300 employees. The factory opened in 2008 and supplies IKEA stores in the US and Canada.  In Europe, IKEA Industry operates production sites in Poland ...
