Almost half of the lands of the forest fund of the Russian Federation (556.2 million ha, 49%) and a third of Russian timber reserves (24.6 billion cubic meters, 31%) are concentrated in the Far East, while it is harvested here less than 9% of wood from the total harvest in the country (21 out of 238 million cubic meters).
