Germany’s timber prices expected to rise as beetle infestation decreases
After the price level had fallen due to the bark beetle infestation, an increase is now expected as the beetle volumes seem to drop, explained Klaus Dunkel, sales manager of Landesforsten Rheinland-Pfalz. In the second half of 2021, the prices for roundwood were at the level before the bark beetle crisis. Due to bark beetle infestation, significantly more trees were felled in 2020 than in other years.
