Finnish sawmill industry: Russian sawn timber exports to Japan should be restricted
The Finnish Sawmill Industry Federation and the European Sawmill Industry Association EOS are demanding that the EU take action to impose sanctions on Russian sawn timber in Japan. The sawmill industry hopes that Finnish decision-makers will raise the issue officially through the EU but also directly in discussions with the Japanese. EOS, in turn, is approaching the EU Trade Commissioner on the matter. Last year, 14 percent of Japan's lumber imports came from Russia.
