European residential construction in 2024 expected to drop by 8.5%
In Europe, a decline in completed housing is expected in the coming years. Euroconstruct forecasts a decline of 8.5% (1.6 million apartments) for 2024. A decline of 15% is expected for Germany. Housing construction is declining even more significantly in the Nordic countries. In Finland and Sweden, the number of completed units is expected to roughly halve within a year. In Norway, the expected decline is 22%. Positive signals are coming from Poland (+4%), Ireland (+10%) and Spain (+15%).
