European demand for Chinese plywood stabilises at low levels as trade tensions rise

Demand for Chinese-made plywood in Europe has recently stabilised at a subdued level, following several quarters of contraction. Despite the plateau, import volumes remain historically high, and prices have shown only a modest increase, primarily due to rising container freight rates. In the second quarter of 2025, China exported over 3.25 million m³ of plywood—up 7% year-on-year—maintaining a high export level even as orders from European buyers showed signs of fatigue.
