EU softwood log and lumber exports to China nearly halved in early 2025
The European Union’s exports of softwood logs and lumber to China dropped sharply in the first half of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024, reflecting weak construction demand in China and a shifting export landscape within Europe. According to Eurostat data, softwood lumber exports from the EU to China fell by 48%, from 657,738 cubic meters in H1/2024 to just 341,513 cubic meters in H1/2025.
