EU to ban wood, wood products coming from countries with deforestation risk
Under new rules unveiled last week, the European Commission plans to ban the sale of agricultural products made in deforested and degraded land. The initial list of contains food products that covers soy, beef, palm oil, cocoa and coffee, but also timber and other wood products The draft law, which will need to be approved by EU governments and the European parliament, comes weeks after more than 100 world leaders promised to end global deforestation by 2030 at the UN COP26 summit.
