Stora Enso produces CLT panels from reclaimed softwood lumber
Stora Enso, in collaboration with the EU-funded Woodcircles project, has successfully produced cross-laminated timber (CLT) panels entirely from reclaimed softwood lumber. The project was carried out at Stora Enso’s Ybbs Mill in Austria and represents a step forward in circular construction practices. The process began with reclaimed softwood lumber collected by project partner Enemærke & Petersen A/S. The wood was processed into standard boards at the Ybbs Mill, then sorted, planed, and turned into CLT lamellas—thin layers of timber used in CLT production.
