Germany: Log prices rise strongly in September as sawmills compete for fresh wood
Log prices in Germany moved up sharply at the beginning of September, with forest owners reporting significantly higher offers from the sawmilling industry. The increase follows several months of declining supplies of damaged wood and a noticeable recovery in demand for freshly harvested logs. In many regions, prices for spruce roundwood have been raised by €5 to €10 per cubic meter.
