German pellet prices edge upward as demand builds
Wood pellet prices in Germany rose in August 2025, emerging from their typical summer low, according to the German Pellet Institute (DEPI). The national average reached €310.82 per tonne, up 2.7% from July, with one kilowatt-hour of heat costing 6.22 cents. Pellets maintain a price advantage of around 29% over heating oil. DEPI advises buyers to secure supplies before the end of the summer holidays, noting that increased demand from consumers and traders restocking for winter is likely to push prices higher.
