Estonia targets plywood re-exports in bid to curb Russian sanctions evasion
Estonia has stepped up efforts to curb sanctions evasion tied to imports of Russian-origin timber, following a marked increase in attempts to disguise the source of goods such as plywood. Customs authorities have reported a significant number of violations in the first half of the year, pointing to increasingly complex schemes designed to bypass EU trade restrictions on Russian wood products.
