Polish timber industry calls for tighter export fumigation rules to curb raw wood outflows
The Polish Chamber of Commerce of the Timber Industry (PIGPD) has urged the government to amend phytosanitary regulations for roundwood exports, warning of mounting risks to domestic supply and economic security due to insufficient oversight and outdated fumigation standards. In a formal appeal to Prime Minister Donald Tusk, the Chamber said tighter rules are needed to align with international standards and prevent environmental and market disruptions caused by rising exports of untreated raw wood, particularly to Asia.
