EU softwood lumber exports to U.S. fall 19%, led by declines in Germany and Sweden

During the January–May period, U.S. imports of softwood lumber from the European Union dropped notably in 2025 compared to the same period in 2024. Total shipment volumes declined by 19% to 3.79 million cubic meters, while the total export value decreased by 13% to €972 million. Germany remained the largest exporter despite a 16% volume reduction and an 18% value decrease, with shipments of 2.06 million cubic meters worth €523 million.
