Södra’s sawmill operations return to profitability
Swedish forest industry group Södra reported stable financial results for the first quarter of 2025 amid persistent global uncertainty, driven by shifting trade conditions, volatile currencies and high raw material prices. While group profit was down year-on-year, the Södra Wood segment – which includes sawmill operations – returned to positive territory, supported by rising prices and productivity improvements. Group net sales rose 7% year-on-year to SEK 8,154 million (EUR 728 million), driven by stronger pricing for softwood lumber and pulp.
