Rettenmeier reopens former Ziegler sawmill, downsizing operations
The Plößberg sawmill—previously the largest in Europe—has resumed operations following Ziegler's insolvency. Wood industry company Rettenmeier aims to make the facility profitable in a slightly downsized form. The sawmill in Plößberg, located in the Tirschenreuth district, is back in operation. During a site visit in the afternoon, Stephan Lang, CEO of the new owner Rettenmeier Holding, provided insight into the restarted facility. The wood processing company, based in Wilburgstetten, Bavaria, took over the sawmill from the Ziegler Group after the company declared insolvency at the end of last year.
