Demand for spruce sawlogs increasing in Austria, despite slow construction
Despite the subdued construction industry, demand for spruce sawlogs is currently increasing in Austria. Damaged wood from storms, broken snow and ice can therefore be marketed without any problems. Removal is usually quick, except in areas where thaw closures or weight restrictions have already been put in place due to the weather. Prices have increased slightly regionally and are between 85 - 113 euros per cubic meter across Austria for the flagship range of spruce A/C 2b+.
