Fears of a second wave of bark beetles in Sweden after dry August

The Swedish Forest Agency and the forestry have been monitoring the swarms of spruce bark beetles, and their observations show signs that a new generation of spruce bark beetles has begun to swarm. They attack wind traps, felled trees and standing forest.  ''We had a favorable weather for the spruces in July with a lot of rain and relatively low temperature, but during August it has been hot and dry in many places, which instead benefits the spruce bark beetles,'' says Lennart Svensson, national damage coordinator at the Swedish Forest Agency.  The Stop the Drills project ...
