Austria: stable spruce prices, while sawmills are in short supply
Against the background of a persistently strong overall economy, the Austrian forestry and sawmill industry is struggling with the winter weather. Due to weather conditions, harvesting, transport and removal of roundwood are only possible to a very limited extent regionally. Accordingly, the Austrian sawmills are stored differently with softwood roundwood. Demand is still brisk, storage and takeover capacity is sufficient. The prices for the spruce, 2b quality are stable and range by between € 86, - and € 95, - throughout Austria, with the lowest prices in Upper Austria and the highest in Styria.
