The autumn storm "Vaia", which led to large-scale damages in the forests of northern Italy and southern Austria from 28 to 30 October 2018, is part of a series of windstorm events that caused major damage in parts of Europe from August 2017 to the end of October 2018.  According to previous estimates, at least 15 million m3 were thrown in Italy alone by Vaia and in Austria about 2.8 million m3.
