US tariffs accelerate shift in Brazilian timber trade as buyers pull back

Brazilian timber exporters are facing a sharp contraction in US business after American buyers cut and cancelled orders ahead of higher tariffs. Brazil's exports of major wood products fell 8% in value in the first half of 2026, while shipments to the US dropped by roughly one-third, accelerating efforts to redirect lumber and value-added products toward Europe, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East.
