Metsä Fibre shuts Joutseno pulp mill due to weak Asian demand
Metsä Fibre, part of Metsä Group, will halt production at its Joutseno pulp mill from 31 March 2026 as the company adjusts output to the current market situation. The shutdown reflects uncertainty in Asian pulp markets, which remain a key destination for Nordic producers. According to the company, production will remain suspended until market conditions improve. “We are monitoring the market situation, and the decision to restart production will be made based on it,” Metsä said in a statement.
