Japanese corporations take over global forest investor
New Forests, a Sydney-based Australian investment company that invests in natural assets worldwide, including sustainably managed forests, is to be acquired by Japanese trading giant Mitsui & Co., Ltd and Japanese financial group Nomura Holdings, Inc. The agreement, signed a few days ago, is subject to regulatory approvals and is expected to be completed by December 2022. Accordingly, Mitsui takes over 49% of the company and Nomura 41%.
