Germany: softwood lumber exports fall on weaker Europe, US market becomes even more dominant in 2025
Germany’s softwood lumber exports declined in 2025 mainly due to weaker deliveries to European markets, while shipments to the United States increased sharply and partly offset the drop. Total exports reached 7,3 million m3 in 2025 (year to date), down 10% from 8,1 million m3 in 2024. The European Union absorbed 3,6 million m3, a decrease of 14% year-on-year, reducing its share of Germany’s total export volume to around 49%.
