Central/West Africa: Dropping pressure on FOB tropical logs prices
Central/ West African producers report a slight easing of sawnwood and log FOB prices (Euro basis) being offered by buyers in the Middle East and China. Sharp discounted prices are being demanded for belli and while Chinese buyers are honouring existing contract prices there are clear downward pressures on FOB prices. Middle Eastern prices are under pressure say producers due to high volume shipments from Cameroon and Gabon.
