Finnish sawmill industry anticipates difficult autumn – “Outlook has deteriorated rapidly”
The high price of logs is creating problems for sawmills, according to the Finnish Sawmill Association. The first half of the year has been reasonably good for the industry. Finnish sawmills produced 6.3 million cubic metres of softwood lumber in the first six months of the year, 15% more than in the same period last year. Softwood lumber exports from Finland between January and May totalled 3.5 million cubic metres, up by one-fifth year-on-year.
