Roundwood volumes in Norway on the rise; prices decline

A total of 9 million cubic metres of industrial roundwood were cut in Norway for sale in 2013; an increase of 230 000 cubic metres from 2012.   This is the highest quantity of timber that has been cut since the early 1990s. The average price per cubic metre of timber fell by 7 per cent.    The aggregated gross value of roundwood sold to the manufacturing industry was NOK 2.8 billion (EUR 335 million) in 2013 - a decrease of 2 per cent compared with the corresponding quarter in 2012.
