Polish plywood producer PAGED Plywood is closing its wood processing plant in Bartoszyce, northern Poland, reducing the group's production network to four facilities in Poland and Estonia.<\/p>\n
Production at the Bartoszyce site will cease in August 2026. The plant specialised in the production of core components used in blockboard manufacturing.<\/p>\n
The facility had an annual production capacity of around 12,000 m\u00b3, according to PAGED's own presentation of its production assets. PAGED previously listed Bartoszyce as one of five manufacturing sites within the group, alongside its operations in Pisz, two facilities in Mor\u0105g and its Estonian plant near P\u00e4rnu.<\/p>\n
The Bartoszyce operation was therefore a relatively small but specialised part of PAGED's production chain rather than a conventional plywood mill. Its output was used for blockboard, a product that remains part of PAGED's portfolio alongside its extensive range of birch, beech, pine and other plywood products.<\/p>\n
Production has already been wound down, with inventory and administrative work currently under way ahead of the final closure.<\/p>\n
The plant employed 26 people. According to the company, employment contracts have been terminated for 24 workers. The reductions did not fall under Poland's collective redundancy procedure, while PAGED said affected employees had been offered career counselling.<\/p>\n
PAGED has not disclosed the reasons for closing the facility.<\/p>\n
Following the closure, the group will retain four production facilities and more than 1,400 employees. Its main plywood production is concentrated at Pisz and Mor\u0105g in Poland, while PAGED Eesti operates a veneer facility near P\u00e4rnu in Estonia. PAGED's official website currently identifies Pisz and Mor\u0105g as its Polish plywood production locations.<\/p>\n
The Estonian operation specialises in rotary-cut birch veneer, sourcing birch mainly from Estonia, Latvia and Finland. PAGED said earlier this year that output at the facility had more than tripled compared with 2019 following investment in automation and production systems.<\/p>\n
The closure of Bartoszyce removes the group's dedicated Polish production site for blockboard core components. PAGED has not indicated whether this production will be transferred to another facility or sourced externally.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
