Spanish plywood manufacturer Garnica has resumed operations at its Maderas de Llodio facility in the Basque Country after reaching an agreement with employee representatives that ends a labour dispute which had brought production to a standstill for almost ten months.<\/p>\n

The conflict began in September last year when the company announced a restructuring programme that included 39 job cuts. The planned redundancies triggered an industrial action that lasted 284 days, making it the longest strike recorded in the Ayala Valley. Following negotiations between management and the works council, employees who chose to return have now been reinstated, allowing manufacturing activities to restart.<\/p>\n

The Llodio facility has been part of the Garnica Group since 2018 and is one of the company's specialist plants for Radiata pine plywood. Before joining Garnica, the mill produced around 42,000 m\u00b3 of plywood panels annually. A \u20ac5 million investment announced in 2022 increased the site's manufacturing capacity by approximately 20,000 m\u00b3, taking annual output to an estimated 65,000 m\u00b3.<\/p>\n

Headquartered in Spain, Garnica has evolved from a family-owned timber business into one of Europe's leading plywood producers, operating manufacturing sites in Spain and France. Its product portfolio covers lightweight and technical plywood solutions supplied to customers in construction, furniture, transport, interior design and industrial manufacturing, with a growing emphasis on engineered, value-added applications.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
