Estonia's timber market remained divided in June, with softwood sawlog prices holding firm while several hardwood log assortments weakened sharply. Pulpwood remained the strongest-performing segment, continuing the upward trend recorded since the start of the year.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Price movements for the main softwood sawlog assortments were limited in June. Pine and spruce sawlogs changed by less than 0.3%<\/strong> compared with May, indicating a stable market after the stronger movements recorded earlier in the year.<\/p>\n

Pine sawlogs averaged \u20ac104.82\/m\u00b3<\/strong> in June, up 9.7%<\/strong> from the same month last year. Spruce sawlogs reached \u20ac109.25\/m\u00b3<\/strong>, an increase of 10.8%<\/strong> year-on-year. Small-diameter spruce logs remained slightly above last year's level, while small-diameter pine logs continued to lag the broader softwood market.<\/p>\n

Compared with March, pine sawlogs were down 0.7%<\/strong>, while spruce sawlogs edged 0.2%<\/strong> higher. Small-diameter spruce logs gained 0.5%<\/strong>, while small-diameter pine logs fell 1.3%<\/strong>. Overall, the softwood sawlog market remained steady entering the summer period.<\/p>\n

Hardwood logs showed a weaker pattern than softwood sawlogs. Birch veneer logs remained the highest-priced assortment in Estonia at \u20ac150.95\/m\u00b3<\/strong> and were unchanged from May. Birch sawlogs declined by 3.2%<\/strong> month-on-month to \u20ac95.34\/m\u00b3<\/strong>, although they remained broadly unchanged compared with June 2025.<\/p>\n

The sharpest pressure was recorded in aspen and alder. Aspen logs fell 5.8%<\/strong> in June and were down 25.1%<\/strong> year-on-year. Black alder logs declined 6.1%<\/strong> month-on-month and 19.3%<\/strong> year-on-year. Grey alder was the only hardwood log assortment to increase during the month, rising 0.4%<\/strong>, but it remained 12.0%<\/strong> below last year's level.<\/p>\n

Pulpwood prices continue to rise<\/strong><\/p>\n

Pulpwood was the strongest-performing part of the Estonian timber market in June. Pine and spruce pulpwood both increased by 6.4%<\/strong> month-on-month, while birch pulpwood rose by 5.1%<\/strong>. Aspen pulpwood recorded a smaller increase of 0.6%<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The latest increases extended the upward trend seen since the beginning of the year. Compared with March, spruce pulpwood prices rose 16.4%<\/strong>, pine pulpwood gained 15.8%<\/strong>, birch pulpwood increased 12.8%<\/strong> and aspen pulpwood advanced 7.1%<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

With the June increases, softwood pulpwood overtook birch pulpwood as the highest-priced pulpwood category. Pine and spruce pulpwood both stood at \u20ac59.29\/m\u00b3<\/strong>, slightly above birch pulpwood at \u20ac58.86\/m\u00b3<\/strong>. Aspen pulpwood remained the lowest-priced pulpwood assortment at \u20ac45.20\/m\u00b3<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The price of three-metre mixed firewood also continued to rise gradually. In June, the price increased by 0.6%<\/strong> to \u20ac42.13\/m\u00b3<\/strong> excluding VAT. Including VAT, the price for consumers reached \u20ac52.24\/m\u00b3<\/strong>. Firewood prices were up 5.0%<\/strong> over three months and 9.2%<\/strong> year-on-year, reaching the highest level in 28 months.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
