Despite the rebound, prices remain below the levels recorded during most of 2025.<\/p>\n<p>According to Statistics Sweden (SCB), the producer price index for <em>sawn and planed wood<\/em> increased to <strong>149.3<\/strong> in May, up 0.6% from April. The latest reading extends the gradual recovery that began after the index fell to <strong>145.2<\/strong> in February, the lowest level since early 2025.<\/p>\n<p>The improvement suggests that Swedish sawmills have regained some pricing power following a weaker start to the year. Nevertheless, the index remains well below the highs recorded last summer, when prices peaked at <strong>157.1<\/strong> in June 2025.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #163f66;\"><strong>Prices recovering after winter slowdown<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The price index declined steadily during the second half of 2025, falling from <strong>157.1<\/strong> in June to <strong>147.7<\/strong> in December. The downward trend continued into January and February before reversing.<\/p>\n<p>Since then, producer prices have increased every month, reaching <strong>146.8<\/strong> in March, <strong>148.4<\/strong> in April and <strong>149.3<\/strong> in May. While the recovery has been modest, it points to improving market conditions after several months of declining prices.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #163f66;\"><strong>Still below last year's levels<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Despite the recent gains, Swedish lumber prices have not returned to the levels seen a year earlier.
