Germany is trading around €350/t, Austria close to €390-400/t, while Swiss prices remain higher despite a further small decline.

The market has moved into the summer restocking period. Prices are no longer falling in any meaningful way in the main consumer markets, and more households are starting to refill storage before the autumn heating season.

The change is clearest in Germany, where many buyers delayed purchases in April and May in expectation of lower prices. With prices now stable for several weeks, that waiting strategy is losing appeal.

Germany: Buyers return as prices stabilise

Germany remains the main reference point for the Central European household pellet market. In mid-June, loose pellets for a 6-tonne delivery were trading at around €350/t. That was broadly unchanged from the end of May, but around €50/t below March, when prices were close to €400/t.

The current level is the lowest since the start of the heating season in October 2025 and has started to bring buyers back into the market. Many households bought only small volumes in April and May, usually when storage levels were already low.

Buying interest rose sharply in the third week of June. Around one quarter of surveyed pellet customers were ready to buy, a strong increase from the beginning of the month. Delivery times remained relatively short at around 17 days, showing that the market is busier but not yet under heavy pressure.

Regional prices remain spread out. Thuringia was among the cheapest regions at around €334/t, while Saarland was among the most expensive at around €371/t. In Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg, where most German pellet heating systems are installed, prices were around €344-351/t.

It is extremely unlikely that prices below €300/t will return this summer. The decline from winter levels has already happened, and rising summer restocking demand is now putting a floor under the market.

Austria: Prices remain above Germany

Austria is trading above Germany, with loose pellets for household deliveries at around €388-400/t in June. The market remains in its usual seasonal buying window, when households refill stocks before demand rises again in autumn.

The June data show that prices remain far below the peaks reached during the energy crisis, but still above the long-term pre-2022 average.

The Austrian market usually sees its best buying conditions in spring and early summer. In previous years, pellet suppliers often used this period to offer storage campaigns, allowing them to plan logistics more efficiently before the heating season.

That seasonal pattern has returned after the disruption caused by the 2022 energy crisis. Prices are no longer moving sharply, but early summer remains a more favourable buying period than autumn or winter.

Switzerland: Prices edge lower but remain high

Switzerland remains the highest-priced pellet market in the region. According to Pelletpreis.ch, the average price for a 6-tonne delivery stood at CHF 459.52/t in early June, equal to around €498/t. In May, the price was CHF 464.20/t, or around €503/t.

The month-on-month decline was small, but the direction remained slightly downward. After the stronger correction seen in spring, Swiss pellet prices are now easing more slowly.

Order size makes a large difference in Switzerland. A 3-tonne delivery cost CHF 479.79/t (€520/t), while a 5-tonne delivery was CHF 463.50/t (€503/t). An 8-tonne delivery averaged CHF 452.15/t (€490/t), while a 17-tonne order stood at CHF 431.05/t (€467/t).

The gap between small and large deliveries is almost CHF 49/t, or around €53/t. This shows how strongly logistics and delivery volume influence the Swiss market.

Despite the recent decline, Swiss prices remain above last year’s levels. In May 2026, the average price was still about 10.6% higher than in May 2025.

Poland and the Czech Republic

In Poland, current ENplus A1 pellets are trading at around €295-345/t, depending on volume and delivery conditions.

In the Czech Republic, current pellet values are around €307/t.

Central European pellet price indications

Market

Price indication

EUR/t

Comment

Germania

Loose pellets, 6-tonne household delivery

€350/t

Unchanged from late May

Austria

Loose pellets, household delivery

€388-400/t

Seasonal buying period

Switzerland

CHF 459.52/t, 6-tonne delivery

€498/t

Slightly lower than May

Poland

ENplus A1 pellets

€295-345/t

Current market range

Republica Cehă

Pellet values

€307/t

Current market value

Wood pellet prices across Central Europe have stopped falling in June, with buyers returning to the market after waiting through spring for cheaper offers.
