Storm Johannes, which swept across central and northern Sweden in late December 2025, damaged an estimated 10.9 million m\u00b3 of timber, according to the Swedish Forest Agency. Most of the damage was concentrated in Dalarna and G\u00e4vleborg counties.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"659\" data-end=\"978\">Storm Dave, which struck southern Sweden during Easter 2026, caused a further 2 million m\u00b3 of windthrown timber across G\u00f6taland. Approximately 1 million m\u00b3 of the damage occurred on S\u00f6dra member-owned forests, with spruce accounting for 61% of the affected volume and pine for 35%.<\/p>\n<p>According to S\u00f6dra, the storms have increased the supply of forest raw material in Sweden. Pine sawlogs have been readily available during the first part of the year, while demand has remained somewhat subdued.<\/p>\n<p>For spruce sawlogs, market conditions in southern Sweden have become more fragmented. At the same time, the supply of fibre raw material, including pulpwood and sawmill chips, remains relatively stable, while market prices for fibre have declined.<\/p>\n<p>Against this backdrop, S\u00f6dra has lowered its purchase prices for several assortments. However, the organisation has introduced a market premium for spruce sawlogs in the southern part of its operating area.
