Southern Yellow Pine (SYP) East Side 2x4 #2&amp;Btr kiln-dried increased modestly to <strong>US$485\/mbf<\/strong>, gaining US$5 from the previous week but remaining significantly below levels recorded a month ago.<\/p>\n<p>Eastern SPF Standard &amp; Better 2x4 prices remained unchanged at <strong>US$596\/mbf<\/strong>, while WSPF stud prices also held firm at <strong>US$439\/mbf<\/strong>. Douglas Fir Green Standard &amp; Better 2x4 posted a weekly decline, whereas plywood prices eased slightly after recent gains.<\/p>\n<p><strong>SPF benchmarks remain stable<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The benchmark WSPF 2x4 market remained unchanged during the latest reporting period, suggesting relatively balanced supply and demand conditions. The product continues to trade above year-earlier levels despite softer activity in some construction segments.<\/p>\n<p>Eastern SPF prices also remained stable, reflecting steady market conditions across eastern Canadian producing regions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Southern Pine continues to show greater volatility<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Southern Yellow Pine remained one of the most volatile products in the market. While prices edged higher during the week, they were still substantially lower than a month earlier, highlighting changing demand conditions in the southern United States.<\/p>\n<p>The contrast between SPF and SYP pricing trends points to differing regional market dynamics as producers adjust to current demand patterns.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Douglas Fir and plywood retreat from recent highs<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Douglas Fir Green Standard &amp; Better 2x4 prices declined by US$15\/mbf from the previous week. Despite the correction, values remained above those recorded a month earlier.<\/p>\n<p>Canadian softwood plywood prices also moved lower during the week, falling by US$7\/msf.
