{"id":98639,"date":"2026-05-06T08:28:47","date_gmt":"2026-05-06T08:28:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.timberindustrynews.com\/?p=98639"},"modified":"2026-05-11T11:37:14","modified_gmt":"2026-05-11T11:37:14","slug":"us-lumber-futures-remain-below-600","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.timberindustrynews.com\/ro\/us-lumber-futures-remain-below-600\/","title":{"rendered":"US lumber futures remain below $600"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--more-->US lumber futures have remained below $600 per thousand board feet since early April as weaker consumer sentiment and uncertainty surrounding developments in the Middle East continue to weigh on demand.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, supply constraints in several regions have partly offset the decline in demand.<br \/>\nCanadian sawmills remain under profitability pressure from elevated US duties and tariffs on softwood lumber imports.<\/p>\n<p>The United States recently outlined preliminary antidumping and countervailing duties on Canadian softwood lumber, reducing the antidumping rate from 20.6% to 10.7% while slightly lowering the countervailing duty from 14.6% to 14.2%.<\/p>\n<p>The combined duty rate is expected to stand at around 25.9%.<\/p>\n<p>Including the existing 10% Section 232 tariff, total effective duties on Canadian softwood lumber imports are expected to remain near 35.9% once the measures take effect in August.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the tariffs aimed at supporting domestic producers, US sawmill utilisation remains relatively weak at around 64%, with capacity use continuing to trend lower since 2017.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":98640,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"inline_featured_image":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[5204,4714],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-98639","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-daily-news","category-wood-industry-prices","topic-forestry","topic-industry-prices","topic-lumber","topic-sawmilling","topic-wood-products","area-global","area-north-america"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v25.9 -
