{"id":98636,"date":"2026-05-06T08:32:58","date_gmt":"2026-05-06T08:32:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.timberindustrynews.com\/?p=98636"},"modified":"2026-05-11T11:36:54","modified_gmt":"2026-05-11T11:36:54","slug":"swedish-roundwood-prices-retreat-from-2025-highs-in-first-quarter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.timberindustrynews.com\/ro\/swedish-roundwood-prices-retreat-from-2025-highs-in-first-quarter\/","title":{"rendered":"Swedish roundwood prices retreat from 2025 highs in first quarter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"69\" data-end=\"291\"><!--more-->Swedish roundwood prices weakened during the first quarter of 2026 as slower industrial activity and softer pulpwood demand cooled the market after the exceptionally strong pricing environment seen throughout much of 2025.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"293\" data-end=\"473\">Preliminary data from the Swedish Forest Agency showed lower prices for most major assortments compared with the fourth quarter of 2025, particularly for pulpwood and pine sawlogs.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"475\" data-end=\"814\">Pine sawlog prices averaged 992 SEK\/m3sub (\u20ac91\/m3sub) during the first quarter, up slightly from 961 SEK\/m3sub (\u20ac88\/m3sub) in the fourth quarter of 2025 but still below the peak levels reached during the second quarter of last year. Prices also remained marginally below the 999 SEK\/m3sub (\u20ac92\/m3sub) recorded in the first quarter of 2025.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"816\" data-end=\"1120\">Spruce sawlog prices averaged 1,228 SEK\/m3sub (\u20ac113\/m3sub), slightly above both the fourth quarter of 2025 and the first quarter of last year. Spruce continues to command the highest prices in the Swedish roundwood market due to relatively stable demand from sawmills supplying structural lumber markets.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1122\" data-end=\"1166\">Pulpwood prices showed a sharper correction.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1168\" data-end=\"1376\">Softwood pulpwood fell to 649 SEK\/m3sub (\u20ac60\/m3sub) during the first quarter, down from 674 SEK\/m3sub (\u20ac62\/m3sub) in the fourth quarter of 2025 and below the 684 SEK\/m3sub (\u20ac63\/m3sub) recorded a year earlier.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1378\" data-end=\"1498\">Hardwood pulpwood averaged 622 SEK\/m3sub (\u20ac57\/m3sub), remaining below both first-quarter and second-quarter 2025 levels.<\/p>\n<div style=\"margin: 30px 0; overflow-x: auto;\">\n<table style=\"width:
